Learn basic wet felting techniques that can be transferred to other projects. You will learn how to use a flat “resist” (a 2 dimensional piece of plastic sandwiched between layers of wool, which when removed, forms a 3 dimensional shape), how to lay out fiber, use soapy water and agitation to make the fibers form fabric, and how to shape and shrink the piece. You will go home with a small felted wool fish. All materials and supplies needed to make a single fish will be provided (choice of colors will be available), and you may take home the reusable wet felting mat and roller for use at home for an additional charge (cash or check to the instructor during the class). Please bring a large bowl or basin, plastic dishwashing gloves, and 1 to 2 old bath towels.
Cost: $45 DVAA members/$50 non-members (reserve 1 week before class date), plus $5 (wool only) or $20 (includes wool and reusable wet felting kit) materials fee (cash or check) paid to the instructor at the time of the class.
